During a one-hour lesson, you can expect to learn -

  • How to properly catch, lead, tie, groom and tack up your horse/pony

  • Warm up your horse and yourself in the saddle using engaging exercises

  • Understand and recognise the temperament, instincts and body language of the horse

  • Correctly use leg, seat, voice and hand aids to cue a movement or motion through the gaits

  • Strengthen posture, confidence and body awareness

  • Build a safe, FUN and lasting relationship with your horse/pony.

What To Wear

Please come prepared for your lessons wearing long, comfortable pants and boots or shoes with a heel. Tennis shoes and open-toed shoes are not appropriate for riding. You may bring your own certified riding helmet or borrow one of ours. Bike helmets are unsuitable for riding. You may also wear riding gloves, which help the reins to stay firmly in your grip, but they are not a requirement.

Lesson Payment & Missed Classes Policy

Starting June 2026:

  • Monthly Billing
Lessons will move to monthly billing, due at the beginning of each month, instead of lesson packages. May will be a transition month to get everyone set up.

  • Attendance & Rescheduling
Each rider will be allowed one reschedule per quarter (every three months). Families will coordinate reschedules directly with their instructor. Beyond that, missed lessons will be forfeited.
As with most instructional programs, monthly tuition reserves your rider’s weekly spot, including instructor time and horse use, regardless of attendance.

  • Farm Cancellations
If we cancel a lesson due to weather or instructor availability, a credit will be provided. As always, we often continue learning in a different format, including unmounted or barn-based lessons, depending on conditions.

We understand that schedules can be busy, and we recognize that this may feel like a shift—especially for families who have been with us for a long time. We truly appreciate your understanding and support as we make these changes so we can focus our time and energy where it matters most: our students and our horses.
